Match Report - Week 13
NH 177-9, South Nutfield 233 AO
On the first real dry, warm and sunny day for quite some time Holmwood travelled to South Nutfield and basically came up against Chris Walker in a very determined mood.
The day started well with both Andrew Morgan and Daryl Goff picking up early wickets with the help of some good catching.
At 80-4 the game was evenly balanced until Walker clicked in to gear. All the bowlers came in for some tap as Chris Walket scored a very powerful 100 and almost
alone carried his side to a decent total of 233 with only Samir making 32 adding any real contribution. Darren Jordan was the pick
of those chosen to bowl taking 4 wickets with a good mixture of leg break bowling on a small ground.
In reply Dan Hoather perished in the first over leaving Ian Elliott and Darren Jordan to start the recovery. Allen and Hames bowled tightly without a lot of luck until Allen nipped one away from Jordan for the keeper to hold on to. Daryl Goff started well hitting boundaries at will and was "unlucky" to be given leg before for a fine 40. Elliott toiled away getting more than one life in his 66 whilst Robin Lines 12 & Stewart Homewood 11 followed soon after. Rob Jones stuck in and played extremely well for his unbeaten 17 whilst Rob Tyers joined him with 4 overs to go and played excellently out for a draw. At least by drawing the game we did limited South Nutfield to only 21 points instead of a potential 39 points ensuring that they stay 38 points behind us in the league. At the end of the season who knows how important thos last 4 overs could be.???
