North Holmwood 131 for 7 lost to Chipstead 132 for 8

After the disappointment of a rained off fixture the day before the Holmwood Sunday side took on CC&W II.

A new opening partnership of Jon 'the curator' Savage and Gavin Morrison started slowly on a rain affected wicket. Morrison went 1st forgetting to play a shot to a straight one to be replaced by 'Wally' Hammond. Sav had to retire hurt with a pulled something in a place you don't want to go! Hammond eased a ball into slips hands which led to Andy Guest and Darren Jordan joining up in the middle. Jordan played some nice shots until succumbing to a 13 year old for 24. Richard Cairnes made 4 before being out 2nd ball! Ghilas Lounis and Daryl Goff steady things down on a pitch that became tougher to score on. Lounis was followed quickly by Alex Wyatt leaving the skipper Mike Cleal to ease the total upwards. Goff finished unbeaten with 33 Cleal 20. A special note to the Chipstead youngsters who bowled and fielded well.

Tea - mmmmmmmmm

Ian Elliott opened the bowling down the hill with his skipper opening up. Scoring was hard against tight lines and a helpful track.Thornloes scored 30 but wickets fell regularly around him. Jordan tore the middle order out with his spin options. As the game came down to the wire, Alex Wyatt bowled some good overs but was replaced by all-rounder Andy Guest at the death. Chipsteads youngsters Dombrandt, Plater and Heal made good runs but it was down to Steve Dombrandt to score the winning run of the last ball.
