North Holmwood 197-6 - Swinging Googlies 108 all out

On a glorious afternoon at Inholms Lane the Googlies visited and enjoyed their afternoon. Put in to bat Skipper Wyo asked fines master Morgan and Graham Hammond
to open up. A friendly opening attack got an early reward as Morgs (having slapped 2 full tosses straight to fielders!) was bowled by one that nipped back for a duck. Daryl Goff joined the veteran Hammond and the two put runs on at a relaxed pace. Hammond, playing by memory in his first game of the season, eventually went for 27 being replaced by Alex Wyatt.
Wyatt's batting style is reminiscent of the current curator at NH, the legend that is Jon Savage - being very strong through or over mid wicket. He went for 19 to be replaced by Ian Page
who takes his batting style from Alex Wyatt!! Pagey went for 17 and Daryl for a patient 45 leaving Ollie Wall to play some lovely shots in his cameo innings. At his demise, Andy Guest and Ian Elliott came together to take the total to 197 upping the scoring rate in the process. Guesty finished unbeaten on 29, the chairman 38.

Tea was special, green stuff on the table followed by ice cream !! Thank you Mr Lines (snr).

The Googlies reply started slowly and never really got out of 1st gear. Alec 'Lethal' Massey on his return from uni bowled a lively opening spell with the skipper miserly at the other end returning figures of 2-9 from his 8 overs. Bowlers came and went, spells from Wyatt and the Page boy along with many others.
A short spell from Guesty finished the game off with his return 2-18 from 4 overs of gentle variations!!! Darren Jordan was the pick of the rest taking 3-14 from 6 overs of slow, slower and very slow spin. 108 all out.
