Proudly Associated With Fullers
And so the week of the tour ends with a very lacklustre performance by the North Holmwood lads. Take nothing away from Netherne they did what they had to do well but this was a very tired performance. Still, the humour was till in evidence as a group of players who enjoy each others company showed once again. Asked to bat on another very good deck prepared by Mr J Savage esq, Darren Jordan and Rob 'slick' Tyers got the ball rolling with a solid opening stand. Jordan fell hooking only to get a top edge to the keeper, Tyers yorked for 23 the top score of this innings. Ian Elliott rode his luck early, played 2 super cuts before driving uppishly to mid off for 15. Robin Lines struggled for fluency and fell pulling, Steve Edwards tamely nurdled one to short leg. Stewart Homewood playing a shot a ball edged to slip for the 1st of 4 ducks, followed next ball by Andy Guest yorked by Jon Alexander. Dave 'thirsty' Welton played 1 or 2 lovely cuts before he edged to slip and the demise for ducks of Andy Morgan and Adam Russill left skipper Daryl Goff 4 unbeaten. Roger 4 wickets, Alexander and Walker 3 each.
Tea was scoffed down so it must have been good.
Chelsea scored a very late winner, again.
And so to Netherne's reply, Robin Lines charging down the hill made an early breakthrough as the Chairman took a good un at slip. Dazza, unusually, failed to get any rhythm and was punished for any bad balls by Jon Alexander who was the difference between the sides. Andy Morgan and Stewart Homewood replaced the openers but bowled without luck and it took a run out to snare the 2nd wicket. Morgs finally got one through the defences and Jordan turned enough to get 2 wickets including Alexander for 75. Fines were taken, a few beers were drunk and the lads made it to Chili & Spice for a curry.
On a final note, the Chairman hopes that we can pick ourselves up dusk ourselves down and finish the season in style, it's not over yet by a long chalk. Next week the bus takes us to Ockley for our last away fixture of the season.
NORTH HOLMWOOD 128 all out LOST to NETHERNE 129 for 5
