On a lumpy looking sort of day, yes the Holmwood boys are beginning to show signs round the midriff that good living and copious amounts of alcohol is catching up with a few, one man shone like a beacon with a backdrop of ominous dark skies. Darren Jordan's maiden league century for North Holmwood, unbeaten at that, took 42 overs and down to his superb shot selection and just 2 slices of luck. Firstly a drop at second slip around the 5o mark that was followed by the Ockley skippers hilarious hissy fit on the pitch towards the culprit and secondly Nobby trying to run him out on 98 with a suicidal decision that ended with himself run out!

Otherwise 7 boundaries including 1 glorious 6 in to the cow corner cow field were mixed in with many well placed shots to all parts of the ground. In this years biggest bet 'Joey' is 2-0 up on 'Steady' in the 6 hitting competition. Other than DJ only Nobby T bobby got on top of some good tight bowling making 30 quick runs enabling the skipper to declare early. The Johnson boys bowled well initially for Ockley with Ben Belfridge and Jamie Fletcher too bowling many good deliveries. 3 hours for 42 overs!!

Tea was good as usual

In reply Ockley lost wickets at regular intervals with only Colin Smith taking the game to the NH bowlers with a hard hit 36. Daryl Goff bowled beautifully again taking 5-29 from 12 overs whilst Andy Morgan swung the ball with regular monotony taking 2-30 of 11 overs. Ian Elliott lobbed up some pies for the good of the cause buy a couple of wickets with Dave Welton taking 2 catches and a great stumping in a good days work. 40 points.

And so the après cricket and a 'Tropical Caribbean night' at the club. Very well organised and supported by the membership - congrats to all those who organised it.

Loads of different coloured drinks added to the usual strawpedos, shot etc made for an interesting after affect the following morning !!!
