North Holmwood vs South Park - home 6th June 2009

South Park Manor 213-9 (48 overs) - NH 172-8 (42 overs)

On a dull, miserable, drizzly day at Inholms Lane these two sides managed to play out an entertaining game.
Put in to bat with the drizzle still hanging around the SP openers struggled against some good tight pace bowling from Skipper Goff and Robin Lines. On a belter of a wicket that had pace and bounce after 2 weeks of preparation (which was marked as a 7 out of 10!!!! how ridiculous was that??) shots were at a premium but some good ones were played throughout the innings. There was also some super deliveries bowled many of which didn't get their just rewards. Lines especially was unlucky as time and again he beat the bat with his extra pace.
Wickets fell at regular intervals and the ground fielding and catching were good for the first 40 overs.
Goff got reward for his accuracy finishing with 3-69, Lines 1-30 with Jordan 2-50 and Homewood 3-45. That doesn't tell the full story as at 40 overs SPM were 148-8 when the fielding gremlins returned. Another fist full of catches went down as well as costly miss fields meant 70 runs in the last 8 overs!!!!

Hissy fits at teatime.

In reply, Jordan and Tyers started sedately enough against some good accurate bowling, Tyers went first for 6 and then Jordan for 21. The Chairman was joined by Lines and the two looked comfortable enough until Elliott tried a back foot drive and fell to gully. Lines was punishing poor deliveries and Andy Guest, playing his old team, settled in.
Lines went for 37 leaving Guesty to pepper the shorter boundary supported well by his Captain. When these two were out the innings stalled and a draw was played out. Guest finishing with 45 and Goff 23.

NORTH HOLMWOOD 172 for 8(42 overs) Drew with SOUTH PARK 213 for 9 (48 overs)
