North Holmwood vs Tadworth - home 23rd May 2009

Daryl won the toss and decided to let Tadders use what looked another cracking wicket first. Good, accurate bowling and keenness in the field made scoring runs difficult early on. Morgs snagged the first wicket with Dave Welton taking the first of his brace of catches behind the stumps. Daryl then bowled a jaffa to get an edge for the Chairman to take a smart catch in the slips to dismiss Mark Davidson leaving the visitors 20-2.
Tim Bennett and Craig Stevenson then changed the face of the game with superb innings of 74 and 73 respectively, hitting the ball to all parts.
Then the game swung back to Holmwood as Nobby Homewood (3-65) had Stevenson caught in the very deep by the Chairman. Next over saw a hat trick of wickets fall as Bennett was bowled by the skipper 1st ball, Waldren caught behind 2nd ball and Jenkins run out 3rd ball. Tadworth were now on the back foot as the skipper had returned to record figures of 5-37. A side note, Andy Guest found himself in a new position newly named 'short dab'.

Teas were lovely as usual.

In return Holmwood's reply got off to a quick start as Darren 'the drinker' Jordan and Rob 'Wet weather' Tyers put on 63 before Rob tickled one to Mark Lawry behind the sticks off Stevenson. Jordan followed quickly missing a straight one right in front of the stumps. The Chairman was joined by Robin 'hit em hard' Lines and his brief stay was peppered with 3 huge 6's before one too many swishes saw his stumps rearranged for 22.
Skipper Goff joined the Chairman and batted well, also for 22, before being bowled. Nobby 'T' Bobby came in and played some cracking shots using the full face of the bat to see the side home by 6 wickets with 3 overs to spare finishing 15 unbeaten with Elliott 63 unbeaten.

Tadworth to their credit stayed behind late in to the evening enjoying the BBQ put on by their hosts.
A good day at North Holmwood again for the locals.
